L G Lemons, Texas Contemporary Artist

Larry Gene Lemons was born just north of Nashville, Tennessee, in Portland, and moved to his family’s home in Ringgold, Texas when he was 2 weeks old. Like the bumper sticker says, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.” While his mom was expecting, she and his dad attended the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium on numerous occasion which might explain Larry’s love for downhome country ways. This love for the country and the simpler things in life is most evident in most of Larry’s art.

Later moving to nearby Nocona to grow up, fall in love and marry, Larry spent the first 27 years of his adult life raising a family and building a career as a successful portrait and wedding photographer. He achieved both state and national recognition as an award winning Master Craftsman Photographer. His photographic and artistic expertise garnered him a number of awards in juried Texas and Southwestern Professional Photographer exibitions including “Judges Choice” and the highest honors of trophies for “Best Portrait in the Southwest” and “Best Portrait of a Child.” You could say he was an “artist with a camera.”
