With a love and talent for art since early childhood, Deb Kirkeeide was guided early on to pursue commercial art leading to a career in design. This journey has been diverse with design and illustration experience in the giftware, display, print and video industries. After a long career in design Deb Kirkeeide has found her focus and love in painting.
Mostly self taught, in 2005 an Impressionist oil painting class led her to a plein air workshop with Minnesota Artist Reid Galey. The trip turned out to be her artistic and personal epiphany. After a week of total immersion into art she came away with an awakened sense of passion for painting and nature and she has been committed to her painting ever since.
Deb currently lives in Minneapolis, MN and when she is not painting, she is a designer and conceptual artist in the broadcast industry. She strives to paint every day and is working towards devoting more time to her art. She is a member of Outdoor Painters of Minnesota and an artist on DailyPainters.
“In the process of discovering my expression as an artist I have found that the essence of my work is the reflection of the endless and spiritual beauty of nature from which I find so much joy. It is my connection to a bigger picture that we as humanity are just one small part of. I love observing its subtleties and secrets. The graceful curve of a branch, the constant dance of light, shadows and colors, the resulting patterns and rhythms that result all become the expression in my art. In a world that seems to shout at us from all directions, my paintings offer the viewer a place to rest and sink into the beauty of our natural surroundings. It is my hope that you, the observer, will awaken to your own experience and discover your own joy. “
