Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Cynthia Underwood showed talent at an early age, winning numerous awards during her early school years in local and regional competitions for drawing. She then did not start painting until almost 40 years later where she met Bruce Gomez at a Gallery in Telluride and followed with a workshop by Bruce Gomez. She used her recently deceased Father’s pastels, also an artist; she loved it and has been painting ever since. She aspires to share her experiences through her paintings and feels the beauty of art is an important part of Society. She currently works Pastel and Oil.
Cynthia is an award winning artist and has been in numerous national show, she has had solo exhibits and featured artist. She is a member of the Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of Colorado, signature member, Arizona Pastel Artist Association, and Plein Air Artist Colorado,signature member, Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society. Her painting’s are usually landscapes from her travels in the Western States; mostly Colorado, Utah and Arizona.
Her art can be found in Corporate Collections, National Botanical Society, private collections in Aspen, Colorado, Salt Lake City, Utah, Lake Tahoe, NV, Houston, TX, Scottsdale and Tucson Arizona, Oklahoma and Missouri. She also donates art to Make a Wish Foundation.
