GOLD PARTNER by Cathy McIntire 7×5 Still Life Painting Oil on Panel

It’s sometimes fun to experiment a little. I applied some gold leaf to this little still life. Having a background in watermedia, I have mixed different elements together to create depth and texture, so I wondered how it would look to add a little gold to this canvas. Who says you can’t jazz up an oil painting?!

The result is a mixed media partnership between paint and metal, giving the strawberry a little more glitz!

Being an artist is a lifestyle. Creating art is a process that goes on in my head all the time. As a kid, my favorite school time was always making art. When I got to high school I couldn’t believe I’d get to go to art class every day! After college I worked in commercial art for a lot of years. Finally, in the mid-90’s I was able to organize my home studio and paint for myself. I’ve moved through many stages of artistic development, experimenting with mediums, styles, and subject matter.
